What makes a role-play good?
1) Being able to play your character faithfully. I don't care if you write three sentences, as long as I think that you've done what your character would do then I am satisfied.
2) Writing. Solid writing, you know, without many grammatical errors that is easy to read, yet challenging enough to enjoy. Good use of words, as well as clever word choice helps. However, being too wordy is pointless and annoying. I think that perhaps there is a misconception that length is what makes a good writer, but I find posts that are too lengthy because they throw a thesaurus at you would be better off not being posted.
3) Characters. A good character can make all the difference. You need to be able to write and play the character well, but this is an incredibly important aspect. I really think that a compelling character can help create a mystique about a roleplayer.
What makes a role-play bad?
The Opposite of what i wrote above.

[glow=purple,2,000] Far be it from me to contest your points... But... [/glow]

[glow=purple,2,000] Is acting in character always a mark of good role-play? Can you think of any examples where sticking to character might ruin the event? [/glow]

[glow=purple,2,000] Two of my more widely respected characters have been characters who posted with poor spelling, and with very scruffy handwriting (this is possible with Proboards - I'll post some examples at some stage.) and yet I was considered to be role-playing at the top of my game... How could this be? [/glow]

I really think that a compelling character can help create a mystique about a roleplayer. [glow=purple,2,000] I'm still curious as to what makes a 'good character'. I've also seen gamers - and done it myself on occassion - who will create totally middle of the road avarage characters - then create some very special role-play with them... [/glow]

[glow=purple,2,000] Good idea's there Grant. Anymore? [/glow]

[/glow] when it would lead to the death of another players character

what makes role play good? we can talk about staying in charter acheving kathasis and creating belivabul stores and personas but its all worthless if you miss the real point
fun
we all do this for fun if its not fun theres no point, werethr its a cobra game were you all have a laugh blowing your mates knee caps of or trading ur dieing comrades as sex toys to a biker gang 4 a few extra minits to run(that was a good game) or a gameof vampire were the enjoyment comes from alliances made and broken scekres kept and traded and the pure bichin behind others backs. last time i played vamp was with the cam and this rule was forgotten. it wasnt about having fun creating amazing stores but abot wining and having mor dots than every one else. dont lose sight of that rule. its just a game. have fun playing it.
